Duties
The incumbent formulates systematic analytical approaches to problem solving.
Provides computer systems analysis, computer programming, system administrating, and maintenance in support of applications prototyping, development, modification and implementation.
Serves as IT specialist on projects and programs concerning all areas of computer systems and applications, including the BSM and all auxiliary administrative support systems.
Familiar with basic IT infrastructure and telecommunications as it relates to designing, developing, and Implementing applications.
Enhances the automation effort by recommending and devising solutions to problems, which are expected to require a high level of competence in visualizing the application to "real world" operations in an effort to meet DLA goals and objectives.

Qualifications
To qualify for an IT SPECIALIST APPSW) your resume and supporting documentation must support:
A. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To qualify at the GS-12 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes:
- In-depth specific knowledge in the following areas: 1) computer programming languages, to include specific knowledge of two of more of the following: JAVA, XML, BPEL, ABAP, C, SAP, ORACLE, or other user-interface application development software; 2) hardware platforms, to include two or more of the following: Mainframe, UNIX based mini-computers, Microsoft XP based mini- computers, Windows XP, or current technology based workstations; and functional process areas to include one or more of the following: order fulfillment, planning(demand and supply), finance, procurement and technical quality.
- Knowledge of Unique Automated Information Systems and commercial software (word processing, spreadsheet, database, graphics) to advise on their availability, applicability and use in development of PC programs.
- Knowledge of Standard Automated Information Systems to assist with data entry, interrogation of systems and downloading from the systems.
