You will serve as a TRAINING INSTRUCTOR in the EOD TRAINING & EVALUATION UNIT TWO, TRAINING DEPARTMENT of EXPLSV ORD DISP TRNG/EVAL UNIT TWO.

Duties

You will manage the commands Radiological Affairs Safety Program in accordance with applicable and current Federal and DON guidance. You will provide instruction in a dynamic field where technical material and tactical TTPs are constantly evolving to meet real world threats and scenarios. You will train EOD technicians in classroom and practical training area environments on the latest Nuclear Hazards TTP as they relate to U.S. Nuclear Weapons and WMD, which will be derived from current intelligence reports. You will conduct Deliberate Risk Assessment (DRA) to mitigate hazards inherent to EOD training, and fully comply with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards and regulations and United States Environmental Protection Agency. You will liaison with Intelligence Specialists and Agencies regarding current worldwide ordnance threats. You will prepare and set-up EOD scenarios at training areas. You will instruct EOD mission planning process for conventional and un-conventional Nuclear or Radiological scenes/incidents, both in a permissive and non-permissive environment. You will maintain currency in technical expertise and training techniques. You will construct and provide training aids for EOD and Navy Expeditionary Combat Command (NECC) units. You will utilize the Navy supply system to procure materials and equipment to manufacture training aids/sites

Requirements

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. You will be required to sign a DD-Form-2760, Qualification to possess firearms or ammunition.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to meet any applicable credentialing or privileging requirements prior to appointment
  • Other travel for mobile training teams and professional development may include up to 30 days per year.
  • Graduate of Naval School Explosive Ordnance Disposal (NAVSCOLEOD) (CIN-431-001 or A-431-0012 or A-431- 0014A/A-431-01114) (preferred).
  • Graduate of Navy Instructor Training (IT) Course(A-012-0077), Army IT course (131-ITC-1), Air Force IT Course (E3AIR3S20 69), or equivalent.
  • Pass an ionizing radiation physical
  • Radiation Worker qualification required.
  • Maintain certification in First Aid, to include adult-level Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) IAW standards of the American Heart Association.
  • Radiation Safety Officer qualification required.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience managing the radiological affairs safety program in accordance with applicable and current Federal and Department of Navy guidance. Experience planning, organizing, managing and conducting effective classroom, laboratory and practical instruction in support of EOD Nuclear Hazards tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTP), explosive safety, EOD tools and techniques, Improvised Explosive Devices, surface unexploded ordnance, homemade explosives and procedures as they relate to U.S. Nuclear Weapons and Weapons of Mass Destruction Experience developing and maintaining nuclear, radiological hazards training curriculum in accordance with curriculum instructional standards office directives. Experience interpreting DoD safety regulations, to include radiation safety and radiological affairs support program, arms, ammunition and explosives and high risk training. (Radiation Safety includes all aspects of isotope procurement, transportation, storage, handling, practical exercise usage, and accountability) Experience governing DoD safety regulations, to include radiation safety and radiological affairs support program, arms, ammunition and explosives and high risk training. Required to possess radiation worker qualification. Required to possess radiation safety officer qualification.
