THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 INDEFINITE EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a ITSPEC (CUSTSPT), Position Description Number D0269000 and is part of the CO JFHQ G6, National Guard. The purpose of this position is to provide customer support to users of supported information management systems.

Duties

Responsible for assisting customers with the resolution of problems encountered. Identifies the nature of customer problems, to include loss of service, impact to the customer and the customer's expectations/needs for a resolution. Provides help desk services to customers by serving as a primary point of contact for problem resolution or direct inquiries. Serves as a technical specialist on all automated systems utilized throughout the state. Receives requests for resolution of hardware or software problems that may require in-depth research. Participates in site surveys in order to verify adequacy of software installation practices and operating environments are compliant with desktop and network security standards, and network operations to ensure customer needs are met. Provides technical assistance to current and potential users so that LAN/WAN and other C4 systems operations have few major disruptions. Installs and maintains hardware devices supporting a broad range of information systems employing multiple network and local operating systems and highly sophisticated client server software. Installs and configures workstation or network operating systems, and applications software on a wide range of configurable information systems devices. Performs operational tests on equipment in test array or operational configuration prior to issue or installation to ensure proper operation and absence of hardware, software, device or network conflicts. Captures, maintains and tracks warranty data for all fielded systems, advises other support personnel of warranty status and interfaces with vendor to request and monitor warranty work. Provides familiarization training for users of new equipment and software as required. Performs other as duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
• Must be a current Dual Status Federal Technician with the Colorado Army National Guard JFHQ-G6.
• Must hold the grade of E-4 thru E-6.
• Submit all required documentation.
• May convert to Permanent without further competition.

Qualifications

Military Grades: E-4 thru E-6 1. Specialized experience will be used to determine qualifications for the announced position. 2. An applicant's RESUME must provide, in detail, how they meet each specialized experience listed below. 3. It must be documented with "from (mm/yy)" and "to (mm/yy)" dates and description of the specialized experience. 4. If education or a degree is required as part of the "Specialized Experience", you must include transcripts. DO NOT copy each bullet listed below word for word and place into your resume; you must describe your personal experience as it pertains to each bullet. You will be immediately disqualified if you fail to include specialized experience in your resume. Must have at least 24 months of Specialized Experience in each of the following: 1. Experience in analysis of the interrelationship of pertinent components of the system. 2. Experience planning the sequence of actions necessary to accomplish the assignment. 3. Experience scheduling the sequence of programs to be processed by computers where alternatives had to be weighed with a view to production efficiency.

Education

Substitution of Education for Specialized Experience - For the GS-5 level, a 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree may be substituted for the experience requirements. At the GS-7 level, one full year of graduate level education or superior academic achievement. At the GS-9 level, a masters or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree may be substituted. At the GS-11 level, a Ph.D. or equivalent, or 3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree.

Undergraduate or Graduate Education: Degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.
