Duties
You will perform work involved in the repair and maintenance of a wide range of equipment and vehicles.
You will assist higher graded heavy mobile equipment mechanics in the disassembling, repairing, and assembling of major systems, components, and operating mechanisms associated with the vehicle parts that require repair.
You will assist, when needed, in the complete overhaul and repair of major systems such as engines, transmissions, drivelines, and hydraulic utility systems.
You will remove, adjust, and/or replace defective or worn parts and components.
You will replace seals and shaft sealing rings, wiring harnesses, starting switches, sensors, fuel pumps, adjust voltage and current control devices, engine idle, brakes, and transmission linkages.
You will clean or replace filters, battery cables, engine components, and injector nozzles.
You will complete limited technical inspections in order to locate improperly functioning parts for repair or replacement.
You will assist in testing the final product and make final adjustments when assigned.
You will be required to sweep, swab, and clean the work area, maintaining a neat, safe and orderly work environment, and may assist in the cleaning of common areas.
Requirements

- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- This position requires exposure to high noise levels.
- You will be exposed to a variety of unpleasant weather conditions.
- You will work on top of, under, and in tight compartments of equipment in cramped or awkward positions.
- You will frequently lift items, unassisted, weighing up to 40 pounds.
- You will be subject to cuts, burns, chemical irritations, bruises, electrical shock, and injuries from falls while repairing, positioning, and moving equipment.
Qualifications
This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: Ability to do the work of a Heavy Mobile Equipment Repairer without no more than normal supervision such as: Perform common tasks such as: repair and maintain a wide range of equipment and vehicles and remove, adjust, and/or replace defective or worn parts and components of said vehicles.
