You will serve as a HEAVY MOBILE EQUIPMENT MECHANIC in the MAGTFTC of OFFICE OF THE COMMANDING GENERAL.
Duties
You will repair major systems such as turbine engines, supercharged and turbocharged engines.
You will perform Limited Technical Inspections (LTI's), troubleshoot and determine the cause of malfunctions and make repairs to a variety of heavy mobile equipment.
You will use a wide variety of test procedures, special test equipment, and support equipment in tracing hard-to-locate problems.
You will complete major repairs, overhauls, utilize advanced test and diagnostics equipment and perform modifications with little or no technical advice.
You will be required to test the final product to include test drives, test firing weapons systems, and making final adjustments prior to retuning the repaired equipment to full service.
You will be knowledgeable in the major systems such as diesel, multi-fuel and gasoline engines, supercharged and turbocharged engines, turbine engines, automatic and manual transmissions, and gear reduction systems.
You will be knowledgeable in the mechanical makeup, operation, and working relationships of heavy duty systems to include assemblies and parts.

- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination. You may be required to work in tiring or uncomfortable positions for long periods of time.

- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- You will be required to frequently lifts and carry items, unassisted, weighing up to 18 kilograms (40 pounds), and often exert similar effort in pushing, pulling, and positioning parts, assemblies, and equipment.
- You may be required to work on top of, under, and in tight compartments of military equipment in cramped or awkward positions. The employee performs strenuous work while standing, lying, crawling, or sitting.
- Work is performed both inside and outside. When inside, they are frequently exposed to drafts, changing temperatures, and noise which is difficult to talk above.
- The work may require when outside, the employee sometimes works in direct sunlight, bad weather, blowing wind and dust, in temperatures exceeding 100 degrees, in mud or snow, in temperatures below freezing, and in wet or icy areas.

Conditions of Employment continued:
~ The incumbent will be exposed to extreme heat, cold, dust, sand storms, severe winds, and direct sunlight. Work is typically performed inside or outside a building exposed to the elements. Temperatures range over 100 degrees in the summer and below freezing during the winter. Exposed to moving equipment such as tractors, overhead cranes, trucks, and warehouse equipment. Working with heavy mobile equipment is continuous and hazardous, and could result in the following injuries or conditions: bruises, cuts, bumps, and dermatitis. Works in close proximity to running equipment, rotating parts and uneven work surfaces. Operating equipment will expose the incumbent to high noise, hot exhaust, fumes, and gases.
~ The applicant/incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a "Favorably Adjudicated" Access National Agency Check with Inquiries (ANACI) with a Secret Security eligibility SF-86. This requires submitting a new ANACI Personnel Security Investigation (PSI) every 10 years. Failure to successfully meet the Secret Security Clearance eligibility requirement is grounds for removal.
~ This position requires incumbent to pass a physical. Must be able to climb, push, pull, crawl, kneel, work in a prone or awkward position, lift and carry over 40 pounds. Must be able to wear any required safety equipment to include protective clothing, helmet, glasses, respirator and shoes. Must be able to work with various oils, solvents, and caustic materials.
