This position is located in the Eastern Service Area Safety Group responsible for monitoring safety reports and analyzing data and risk indicators to identify root causes of hazards and safety issues. The Service Area Safety Group takes risk-based decisions and coordinates safety-related activities to influence air traffic, technical operations, and field-based safety mitigations.

Duties

Serves as the Team Manager responsible for directing a subordinate staff of geographically dispersed senior technical specialists who are responsible for analyzing safety related findings/data for developing mitigation strategies to improve runway safety by reducing the risk of runway incursions, excursions, and other surface incidents. This work usually includes a mixture of routine and complex projects/programs based on the objectives of the ATO and is a critical area of safety oversight. The work directly affects the safe and efficient operation of the National Airspace System (NAS).

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the FV-J or FG/GS-14 level. This experience is typically related to the line of work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been at least equivalent to the next lower level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.Specialized Experience is defined as: Experience analyzing and evaluating systems designed to prevent runway collisions, incursions and accidents.Experience developing reports and policies on safety and risk management programs to recommend policy and procedural corrections.You should include relevant examples of the specialized experience in your work history.
