You will serve as a Telecommunications Specialist in the Headquarters Infrastructure and Telecommunications Branch, Enterprise Services Division, of HEADQUARTERS US INDO-PACIFIC COMMAND.

Duties

You will be responsible for managing all telecommunications circuits at Headquarters, United States Indian Ocean Pacific Command. You will make recommendations and implement solutions to correct deficiencies regarding critical telecommunications infrastructure. You will establish and lead IT project teams, chair project team meetings, and oversee the implementation of new IT system hardware and/or software. You will perform database updates and patching/labeling for new cable requirements within the USINDOPACOM Headquarters and other locations as required.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a U.S. Passport.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver?s license.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Applying working knowledge of operational and technical requirements and their effects on information technology (IT) and telecommunications systems; 2) Developing and maintaining directives, procedures, and other technical documents for large scale IT and telecommunications systems; 3) Making recommendations and implementing solutions to correct deficiencies regarding critical telecommunications infrastructure; 4) Managing the telecommunications circuit for assigned command/organization, including ordering new circuits, ensuring funding is available, and deactivating circuits; and 5) Resolving technical problems and IT issues to ensure customer requirements are met.
