This position is in the Department of Labor, Wage and Hour Division (WHD), Office of Administrative Operations, Branch of Document Management. The Branch of Document Management provides information services in response to the needs of the Administrator and other agency officials and coordinates, processes, and responds to WHD's Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and Privacy Act (PA) requests.
Duties
As a Records and Information Management Specialist you will perform the following duties which are not all-inclusive:
Serve as a Records and Information Management Specialist responsible for administering, analyzing, and/or performing work involved in establishing, disseminating, or managing Government information.
Advise program managers and senior staff on the adequacy of documentation and the creation and management of agency records.
Perform analytical and evaluative techniques sufficient to analyze records management design policies, practices and methods that affect the organization.
Assist with formulating and overseeing the implementation of WHD policy and guidance for electronic and non-electronic record-keeping.
Advise others on department policy, congressional mandates, Federal regulations, standards, and guidance; and appropriate national and international professional records/information management standards.
Identify records and information management needs throughout the agency and integrate those needs with mission, IT, and other regulatory needs.
Use knowledge of statutory, regulatory, and other legal requirements associated with information resources management, knowledge management, records management, privacy, access, copyright and patent, admissibility of documentary evidence, and ethical and professional conduct to accomplish tasks and advise others.
Manage life cycle of records, including reports and management directives; filing and retrieval systems, both electronic and manual; records schedules; records appraisals; archival management; and NARA retirement and transfer procedures.
Keep management informed on current and projected operational requirements, issues, and legislative and regulatory matters.
Requirements

- Must be at least 16 years old.
- Candidate required to obtain the necessary security/investigation level.
- Requires a probationary period if the requirement has not been met.

Applicants must meet the education and/or specialized experience requirements described below.
Specialized experience: Your resume must demonstrate one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, GS-12, in the Federal Service, performing the following:
Experience applying records and information management requirements and regulations to ensure an effective and efficient records management program.
Experience in the application of analytical and evaluative methods and techniques sufficient to analyze records management design policies, practices, and methods.
Experience analyzing and interpreting legislation, policy, and regulatory guidance as it relates to records management.
Experience utilizing management processes involved in the life cycle of records, including management directives; filing and retrieval systems, both electronic and manual; records schedules; records appraisals and archival management
Education
There are no education requirements for this position. You must possess the required specialized experience. There is no substitution of education for specialized experience at this grade level.
