This position will operate within Fleet Management, Veterans Transportation Service (VTS), Engineering Service at the VA San Diego Health Care System (VASDHS). The incumbent is directly supervised by and collaborates with the Fleet Management Supervisor and to the Mobility Manager, who has an office at the VA Medical Center. This position is a Transportation Coordinator at the facility level and acts as the primary contact to Veterans for transportation needs.
Duties
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Collecting, compiling, and tracking data and statistical information in support of the Veterans Transportation Service (VTS).
Performs basic analysis of the data and generates a variety of reports.
Collates incoming data from a variety of sources.
Reviews documents, reports and/or applications for omissions and inconsistencies and ensures data entry is complete and accurate.
Enters pertinent transportation information into an automated tracking system. Receives DSS extracts to verify that the workload being captured in DSS is correct.
Maintains automated transportation system of program-specific data to track items such as service project milestones, progress reports, clinic trends, program trends, performance measures, compliance strategies, etc.
Interacts with various other transportation services such as Emergency Medical Service (EMS), Volunteer Transportation Network (VTN), Disabled American Veterans (DAV), Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), etc., and other transportation providers.
Coordinates service practices that decrease waits and delays for patients in all specialty areas.
Plans consult processing flow to ensure Veterans receive consultation services in a timely manner.
Utilizes the Veterans Health Administration Information Systems & Technological Architecture (VISTA), Computerized Patient Record System (CPRS) or SharePoint Consult Request Tracking System in processing internal consultations.
Provides procedural support in administering quality monitors to be utilized in the internal consultation process to measure the success of efforts to provide seamless care and to support the education of staff in the proper use of the electronic record, to include internal consultation processes.
Assists the Mobility Manager in planning and directing programs that provide VTS support services functions.
Reviews workload types in Veteran Transportation Service, e.g., outpatient clinic visits, surgical admissions.
Responds to "action required" notifications, ensuring the primary providers are correct.
Coordinates the day-to-day operation of VTS program flow, processes, and functions. Provides technical and management guidance necessary to achieve the optimum use of service resources.
Plans and provides support services in the following types of program areas; electronic records management; driver scheduling setup and management of program; space utilization services.
Provides advisory services to the Mobility Manager regarding the requirements and implications of the office services provided.
Provides advice to operating managers and supervisors on how provided services can assist in accomplishing their missions and programs.
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday 7:00am-3:30pm.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 09/11/2023.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.
You may qualify based on your experience as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Collecting, compiling, and tracking data and statistical information, collating incoming data from a variety of sources. Reviews documents, reports and/or applications for omissions and inconsistencies and ensures data entry is complete and accurate.

Physical Requirements: Incumbent will be exposed to stressful working situations that will require a mature attitude and collective reasoning to overcome. The incumbent is subject to a great deal of stress because of the high volume of work, the need for accuracy, frequency of interruptions and ever-changing demands due to program changes.
