You will serve as a SUPPLY MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST in the Nuclear Material Expediting Section, Nuclear Material Support Branch, Nuclear Material Manager Division, Nuclear Engineering and Planning Department of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.
Duties
You will be responsible for managing, and coordinating the timely identification and acquisition of material required in support of nuclear production schedules for the project assigned.
You will recommend or effect changes in resources or processes to ensure delivery of requisite material to meet critical schedule events despite frequent, unplanned workload or schedule changes.
You will provides information to cognizant personnel when material issues may impact schedules and recommends alternative paths for obtaining material for critical Nuclear Project requirements.
You will provides advice and guidance to various project personnel on resolving potential material problems and complex material issues.
You will track and provide status on long lead time and government furnished materials.
Requirements

- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
GS-09: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience demonstrating practical knowledge of the characteristics, properties, uses, and interrelationships of material support systems.
Experience demonstrating specialized knowledge of a broad range of material policies and procedures for procuring, receiving, storing, controlling, maintaining, issuing, shipping, and disposal of materials and equipment.
Experience demonstrating knowledge of the mission, functions, operations, and structure of the shipyard, especially in the areas of Nuclear Engineering, Quality Assurance, and Production.
Experience utilizing Material Access Technology (MAT), and associated information systems.
Experience utilizing MRQT and NJML databases in order to extract information on nuclear material requirements.
GS-07: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience assisting in researching problems and provide assistance with minimum supervision.
Experience communicating well orally and in writing in order to convey information verbally and by written reports.
Experience communicating well orally and in writing.

Master's or equivalent graduate degree

2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree
