Duties
The Earthquake Engineering Group develops, advances, and deploys measurement science for earthquake hazards reduction for buildings and infrastructure lifelines in ways that enhance public safety, community resilience, and economic security.
We are looking for an Administrative Office Assistant to provide clerical and administrative support to the Earthquake Engineering Group!
If selected, you will be responsible for:
Processing travel authorizations and vouchers
Preparing documentation for guest researchers' appointments/renewals
Assisting in the in-processing of new employees and associates to include arranging for office space, phones, and computer accounts prior to arrival
Preparing for and executing out-processing actions prior to the departure of exiting employees and associates
Managing time and attendance
Purchasing equipment, supplies, and services
Serving as a bankcard holder
Preparing training requests and documents completed training
Scheduling meetings
Registering visitors
Managing files, including archiving records according to published records schedules
Serving as the principal office contact for phones and visitors
Preparing documents, reports, and correspondence
This position requires a typing speed of 40 WPM.
We are looking for someone with skill in using a variety of office automation software, such as spreadsheets and word processing applications.

Qualifications
Basic Requirements:
To qualify for the ZS-III position, applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-04 grade level (ZS-II for NIST). Specialized experience is defined as experience in completing routine administrative tasks, including travel preparation, timekeeping, acquisitions, and calendar/scheduling for others.
OR
4 years of education above high school
OR
An equivalent combination of experience and/or post-high school education
In addition to the above minimum qualification requirements, applicants must be able to type 40 wpm.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done. We will credit all qualifying volunteer experience in your application.
