About the Position: Serves as the waivers technician at the Recruiting Battalion (BN) Headquarters (HQ), S-3, responsible for both waiver requests and Future Soldier Training Program (FSTP) separations. As such is responsible for ensuring that required documentation for requests complies with appropriate governing regulations.
Duties
Receives, investigates, and processes waiver requests (administrative and conduct) from Company Commanders and Field Recruiters.
Research regulations and directives to determine eligibility, suitability of the waiver, and appropriate waiver authority.
Ensure technical accuracy and completeness of all information.
Receives, reviews, analyzes, and processes all medical waiver requests to determine if applicants meet basic enlistment requirements and waiver eligibility criteria.
Conducts a timely and thorough investigation of individual background, current conduct or physical status and applicants? statements to determine eligibility.
Contacts appropriate authorities and/or agencies (Law enforcement, social service, etc.) for certification of all reasons given on applications.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
- One year trial/probationary period may be required.
- This position requires approximately 5% of your duty to be performed in Temporary Duty Away (TDY) from your place of work status.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service, (1) responding to questions pertaining to military personnel issues; (2) utilizing computers and software programs to extract, revise or sort information from files, records or databases; and/or (3) research military personnel regulations and procedures to make recommendations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
