This National Guard Excepted Service position is for an Information Security Specialist, Position Description Number D1940000 and is part of the D.C. 113th Wing of the District of Columbia Air National Guard.
This is not a remote position. The incumbent will be required to report to the following worksite.

Duties
The primary purpose of the position is to administer the Special Security Office (SSO) and all SCI-associated security programs and measures. Provides detailed research and analysis on physical, computer, personnel, information, industrial and community security. This position requires a comprehensive working knowledge of intelligence support operations, procedures, and practices.
This position:
Initiates and implements policies and procedures required to manage sensitive compartmented information (SCI) programs and to protect SCI resources.
Establishes policies and procedures for accomplishment of SCI protection and security. Develops goals and objectives that integrate organizational missions and security requirements.
Serves as the SCI Control Officer responsible for establishing, managing, and controlling all collateral and SCI classified information and material within the Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities (SCIFs) affecting the Unit's mission.
Works directly for the intelligence unit commander/Senior Intelligence Officer (SIO), reporting on the administration of the Special Security Office and SCI-associated security programs.
Manages and directs the activities and personnel of the unit Special Security Office. Plans and supervises work accomplished by assigned subordinates.
Appoints Local SCI courier officials that have a requirement to courier SCI and coordinates with the Defense Courier Service (DCS).
Administers the SCI security clearance program for all assigned personnel, ensuring all required clearances are up-to-date and completed.
Provides oversight of unit and SSO security self-inspections and presents detailed and comprehensive reports with corrective action taken to the unit intelligence commander/SIO.
Represents the intelligence unit to a variety of installation and functional areas, including national-level organizations.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements
- This is a National Guard excepted service technician position which requires MILITARY membership.
- Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/Special Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) security clearance.
- May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
- Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
- The incumbent will be required to wear a uniform.
- May be required to work uncommon tours of duty on short notice.
- Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.

AREA OF CONSIDERATION:
Area III:
Current or former uniformed service members (Active, Reserve, Guard) nationwide who are eligible for military membership in the (DCANG) (DCARNG). -- If not currently a member, the incumbent will be required to join the District of Columbia Air National Guard.

The National Guard's full-time support program requires that all military technicians are members of the National Guard and are appointed to full-time positions which correspond to their military assignments. GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Is the education and validated understanding of the basic principles and concepts of the Special Security Program to include protection from espionage, terrorism, and threats of unauthorized disclosure and/or compromise of information or material considered vital to wing and command mission interests, national defense, or national security. Applicants must have the experiences, education, or training that demonstrates the ability to administer the special security and all sensitive associated security programs and measures. Applicants must demonstrate the ability or have endorsements that indicate the ability to learn and perform the cited position's duties.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least 24 months of specialized experience in the Security Forces career field to include technical training schools and drill-status working experience. Experienced in security specialist for force protection and antiterrorism; along with documented performance in related physical and operations security and issues; managing assigned program areas; and implementing force protection policy, projects, and studies. Experienced in advising the commander on matters of antiterrorism oversees implementation of Air Force and Major Command policies. Knowledgeable and competent on a wide range of security specialties to include physical, personal, and operational security to identify and resolve conflicting and complex policy and program objectives, and procedures within the security functional area.
Experience will be evaluated based on duties performed rather than strictly on length of time alone.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
