About the Position: Serve as an Investigative Operations Specialist located throughout US Army CID (USACID) HQs and field offices (FO) worldwide. The incumbent provides operational support to USACID Special Agents in the conduct of criminal investigations, operations and conducts liaison activities with local agencies and entities to ensure that USACID field offices can efficiently complete their mission.

Duties

Provide support to case agents through the conduct of crime and death scene examinations, which include but are not limited to: identifying, processing, documenting, and preserving physical evidence. Perform and document open-source research, social media checks, service record book review, and law enforcement (LE) databases checks in support of criminal investigations. Conduct case reviews of cold case investigative files and provide Special Agents with ideas and investigative guidance to ensure all leads are considered and evaluated to forward individual cases toward resolution. Conduct case research and coordinate with Case Agents and/or local law enforcement to ensure adequate and accurate data in preparation for monthly meetings. Assist in the performance of background suitability investigations for Special Agent applicant personnel, administrative support personnel, and assigned military personnel. May serve in the roles as Field Training Agent, Firearms Instructor, Control Tactics Instructor. Serve as liaison by developing working relationships with counterparts in local LE, other federal agencies, state agencies, military commands, and armed services agencies to ensure the success of the mission.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position has been identified as a Testing Designated Position. The incumbent must submit to pass a drug test prior to appointment and is subject to random drug testing thereafter.
  • Employee must possess and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator?s license.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Criminal InvestigationInvestigative AnalysisInvestigative Reporting Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12). Applicants must meet all eligibility requirements and minimum qualification requirements prescribed by OPM within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
