This is a Training Opportunity in the Engineering & Planning Department of PSNS and IMF to gain the competencies necessary to perform Engineering Technician duties.
If selected, you will be placed on a Detail NTE 1 Year. There will be no change in your salary during the timeframe of this training opportunity.
Duties
You will, under direct supervision, assist in the troubleshooting and repair of Lifting and Handling systems.
You will, under direct supervision, direct required maintenance/improvement work performed on Lifting and Handling systems on cranes.
You will, under direct supervision, prepare alterations or work with Senior Engineers to develop complex alterations to improve crane reliability and performance to resolve identified problems, or replace obsolete components or systems on cranes.
You will, under direct supervision, write/edit maintenance instructions coinciding with alterations.
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
- Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- This is a bargaining unit position.
- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and nonionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
