About the Position: The installation rests in the beautiful 'hill and lake' country of Central Texas between Killeen and Copperas Cove and is approximately 60 miles north of the capital city of Austin, 50 miles south of Waco, 160 miles south of Dallas, and 150 miles north of San Antonio. Duties
Prepare government cost estimates on projects which are to be worked by in-house teams or external contractors.
Prepare a full range of planning and engineering design cost.
Prepare cost estimates on several competing alternatives in order to arrive at the project's selected plan.
Review cost estimates prepared by external contractors and others.
Review all engineering drawings, plans, specifications, standards, regulations and other applicable references.

Specialized Experience:
In-service Applicants: One year of specialized experience which includes assisting with construction improvement projects to include collecting data on material cost, cost breakdown, and/or working with contractors, and/or suppliers for project completion. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).
Or
Other Applicants: One year of specialized experience which includes preparing construction engineering design cost estimates. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-10).

Education
