About the Position: The installation rests in the beautiful 'hill and lake' country of Central Texas between Killeen and Copperas Cove and is approximately 60 miles north of the capital city of Austin, 50 miles south of Waco, 160 miles south of Dallas, and 150 miles north of San Antonio. Duties
Reviews and evaluates technical specifications and proposals for all phases of operations to ensure appropriate engineering considerations are incorporated.
Reviews completed project and contract documents prepared by the staff prior to their execution or advertisement in order to ensure their technical sufficiency, making recommendations to remove conflicting work requirements or specifications.
Provides professional engineering consultation, guidance and advice to the Director.
Applies professional knowledge of engineering techniques for the administration and inspection of Base Services contract and other installation-wide contracts.
Reviews estimates submitted by contractors for engineering feasibility, compliance with policies, and reasonableness of cost, ensuring that statutory limits are not exceeded.
Develop engineering reports and cost estimates as necessary for documentation and required corrective actions.
Establishes long range engineering and project objectives applicable to maintenance, repair and improvement to Real Property and infrastructure, as well as Utility Systems.
Plans the work to be accomplished by subordinates to include setting priorities and preparing schedules for completion of work.
Makes work assignments to subordinates based on priorities, selective consideration of the difficulty and requirements of assignments, and the capabilities of employees.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Incumbent is required to obtain and maintain a valid state driver’s license and any installation and/or DoD license required for the type of vehicle being driven.
- Position requires incumbent to wear protective clothing when visiting sites.
- Incumbent must obtain Contractor Office Representative Certification within 6 months of employment, and maintain for duration of employment.
