You will serve as a SUPERVISORY IT SPECIALIST (POLICY PLANNING) in the NAVSUP BUSINESS SYSTEMS CENTER.
Duties
You will be responsible for planning, execution, direction and focus of the Department?s IT/IS systems and programs such as logistics solutions, core business solutions, technology services, and data analytics solutions.
You will perform normal administrative and supervisory duties of evaluating personnel performance, resolving personnel problems, selecting personnel, and developing and training subordinate staff.
You will oversee the development of project plans including research assessment and definition of the NAVSUP BSC?s capabilities, the evaluation of alternative approaches and recommendation of specific strategies to pursue.
You will negotiates for the acceptance of Department's positions on key Governmentwide information technology/ information system (IT/IS) policy initiatives.

Qualifications
I have one year of information technology related experience in the federal service or private or public sector demonstrating the following four competencies, as defined: 1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. 2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. 3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. 4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. In addition to my experience demonstrating the four competencies above, I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-13) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector, demonstrating mastery knowledge of, and skill in applying, policy and planning concepts/practices and interrelations of multiple IT disciplines sufficient to manage an organization's Information System (IS)/Information Technology (IT) programs, systems and related support resources. Specific examples of work include performance of the following duties: 1. Developing and interpreting policy, procedures and strategies governing the planning and delivery of IT services throughout the agency; 2. Planning, directing, and implementing a variety of Departmental IT/IS systems and programs such as logistics solutions, core business solutions, technology services, and data analytics solutions, etc. with Enterprise impact; 3. Overseeing the development of project plans including research assessments and the evaluation of alternative approaches and recommendation of specific strategies to pursue; 4. Providing technical guidance and recommendations to senior management and technical specialists on a wide range of critical IT issues; 5. Preforming administrative and supervisory duties evaluating personnel performance, resolving personnel problem, selecting personnel, and developing and training subordinate staff.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
