Duties

Supervise administrative, instructional and technical authority over employees engaged in a variety of medical instructor functions. Plan, develop, install and evaluates new or modified programs. Plan and conduct studies to address extremely complex, far-reaching, and potentially policy impacting issues associated with the design of training materials. Develop all course material to include new or modified study guides, visual aids, simulations (mock ups and models), written tests, proficiency charts, training aids and course outlines.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance.
• This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination.
• This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 15% of the time.
• The work environment will consist of but not limited to the classroom, laboratory, and the outdoors. The employee will be required to work outdoors regardless of the weather conditions.
• Due to the nature of this position, employees are required to work both planned and unscheduled overtime.
• The employee may be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
• Must possess and maintain the Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification of training.
• Former instructor or graduate of the Special Forces Medical Sergeants (SFMS) course or the Special Operations Combat Medic (SOCM) course or equivalent course requirement.
• Must successfully complete the Special Operations Instructor Course (SOIC) within six months of assignment.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes presenting lectures, demonstration, and practical exercises to students enrolled in courses such as: Special Operations Combat Medic (SOCM) Course, Special Operations Combat Medic Skills Sustainment Course (SOCMSSC), Special Forces Medical Sergeants (SFMS) Course and the Special Amphibious Reconnaissance Independent Duty Corpsman (SARIDC) Course. Instruct, and evaluate student performance in areas such as: basic life support, emergency medical technician subjects, medical math, anatomy and physiology, physical examination, radiology procedures and radiograph interpretation, laboratory procedures and interpretation, dental subjects, clinical medicine, pharmacology, advanced cardiac life. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
