Thee New Mexico VA Healthcare Network is recruiting for a Program Support Assistant assigned to the Surgical Service. The incumbent will serve as the
Administrative Assistant for Surgical Service, representing the Chief, Surgical Service in selected administrative matters. The incumbent will assist the Chief, Surgical Service, in planning, developing, directing, and managing all administrative functions of the service.
Duties
Implement, and analyze information to assure compliance with Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) guidelines and the National Surgery Office criteria.
Serve as the timekeeper for employees in the Surgical Service. In addition, incumbent will be the backup Automated Data Processing Application Coordinator (ADPAC), and the TMS coordinator for the Service.
Responsible for monitoring the maintenance and upkeep of Surgical Service six-part folders on all Surgical Service staff.
Coordinate the gathering of information from other Service Chiefs and assist in the generation of administrative reports, clinical reviews and workload analyses.
Assist and advise employees in training and help develop a skilled work force through education and training programs.
Serve as the liaison between the Surgical Service and the Surgical Department of the University of New Mexico.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 7:00am-3:30pm

Physical Requirements: The work is sedentary and is usually accomplished while the incumbent is comfortably seated at a desk or table. Some walking and standing may occur in the course of a non-workday in connection with attendance at meetings and conferences, or while
researching files. Items carried typically are light objects such as, briefcases, notebooks, and data processing reports. No special physical effort is required to perform the work.
