Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Finance, Financial Operations, Financial Systems Management and Oversight Division located in Indianapolis, IN.

Duties

This position starts at a salary of $117,462.00 (GS-14, Step 1) to $152,698.00 (GS-14, Step 10) with promotion potential to $152,698.00 (GS-14 Step 10). In this position, you will become a key member of the Office of Finance team performing the below typical work assignments: Providing authoritative senior technical leadership, specialized financial systems knowledge and central focus, on a CBP-wide basis, to enhance financial or mixed-financial systems program management, financial and process controls, and the functionality for a process or function. Serving as the senior financial system process/functional expert and the Office of Finance principal point of contact on all matters relating to the design, management, operation and improvement of a primary functional component of CBP's ERP system, SAP, or other financial or mixed-financial systems. Primary functional components include, but are not limited to, procurement, property, finance, financial reporting, training, and change management. Making decisions concerning such matters as the content of a requirements document, design specifications, testing plans, training materials, change management, and the delivery of financial system information. Providing expert advice to senior CBP officials and staff, recommending solutions to assess accuracy, reliability and compliance with legal and policy requirements.

Qualifications

Experience: You qualify for the grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Development, maintenance, collaboration and execution of project plans. Providing technical support and customer assistance to enhance Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) or large equivalent systems. Providing project support and recommendations to higher level management. Preparing and presenting status briefings/communications to supervisors and peers as well as higher level management. Providing support to leadership related to financial activities including monitoring/fixing of system related issues, changes and reporting. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must: Meet all qualification requirements, including education if applicable to this position, subject to verification at any stage of the application process; and Meet all applicable Time in Grade requirements (current federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the federal service) by 08/18/2023.
