This position is responsible for supervising support staff within the Office of Legislative Affairs (OLA), as well as managing administrative aspects of projects, programs, and processes in support of OLA's mission.

The duties and responsibilities for a Supervisory Administrative Officer generally include, but are not limited to, the following:
Supervise and direct administrative services that support and affect the operations of the Office of Legislative Affairs and its interactions with Congress.
Accomplish Department objectives by managing staff and organizing and monitoring work processes.
Manage personnel, counsel, mentor, motivate and lead employees and resolve conflicts.
Provide leadership to a team of employees to effect change, and develop and implement organizational strategy and vision.
Handle procurement and contract negotiations for services and products.
Requirements
- You must be a United States Citizen or National.
- You must successfully pass a security/background investigation and a drug screening.
- You must be a current Federal employee within the Department of Justice on a Competitive Service appointment.
- You must meet all applicable time-in-grade requirements by the closing of this announcement.
- Additional selections may be made from this announcement, at any time, if openings occur in other offices serviced by Justice Management Division, HR Operations.
- This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG). A one-year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.
Qualifications
To qualify for the position of Supervisory Administrative Officer, (GS-0341-14), you must meet the basic qualification requirements listed below AND possess the required specialized experience specific to this series and grade.
If you are a current Department of Justice employee on a permanent appointment in the competitive service, you will need to demonstrate 1-year (52-weeks) at the next lower grade level, to meet the time-in-grade requirements for this occupational series and grade. (NOTE: Please provide your most current non-award SF 50.)
For the GS 14, you must have one year of specialized experience at the GS 13 grade level or equivalent pay band in the Federal service. To qualify at the GS-14 grade, your resume must demonstrate experience in at least two of the following: 1) Utilizing a records management system to log Congressional correspondence; 2) Advising on and negotiating contracts, agreements, and developing budget estimates and justifications; 3) Preparing personnel and human resources documents related to classification, recruitment and performance management.
