You will serve as a QUALITY ASSURANCE SPECIALIST (Nuclear) in the of Problem Analysis Center (Code 2350.4) at PSNS and IMF.

Duties

You will plan, develop, or administer quality assurance audit and surveillance reports of Shipyard activities engaged in nuclear work. You will ensure systematic prevention of defects and non-conformances, the identification of unsatisfactory trends and conditions, and the correction of factors which may contribute to defective items. You will perform frequent, thorough, inspections of nuclear facilities, procedures and workmanship, investigating/analyzing the results of those inspections and reporting to management. You will be responsible for reporting problems in assigned projects, organizations, and functions to managers/supervisors to assure the supervisor has timely knowledge of emergent problems/trends. You will acts as QA representative in assigned nuclear auditing and process management matters (e.g., Nuclear Material Handling, Nuclear Metallurgy and Chemistry Control, Refueling, Radioactive Material Control, Contamination Control, etc.). You will manage CATS Action Items for Department level audits, surveillances, studies, and self-assessments. You will be responsible for determining if the responses for these open actions are sufficient to submit to action approver for closure. You will provide support for personnel conducting on and off -station audits/surveillances and external audits e.g. NAVSEA and/or NAVSUP by assembling Quality Program objective quality evidence (OQE) and providing it to the Audit Teams. You will maintain records of audit studies and surveillance results. You will conduct causal analysis to include assimilating event-related materials, developing timelines, cause maps, process maps, and lessons learned information.

  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector developing and implementing quality assurance methods and procedures to monitor and audit nuclear program requirements that support work performed (e.g., design, testing, maintenance) on nuclear reactor plants.
