Plans, directs and coordinates the efforts of the MWR Community Recreation Program staff in the performance of their tasks, functions and duties.
Duties
Plans, directs and coordinates the efforts of the MWR Community Recreation Program staff in the performance of their tasks, functions and duties
Exercises executive management control of MWR Community Recreation Division that includes but is not limited to: Parks & Picnic, Information Ticket and Tours (ITT), Special Events, and Outdoor Rental
Plans, develops, organizes, implements and coordinates programs, hours of operation, staffing requirements, etc., that provides for a comprehensive well-balanced community recreation program that services all active duty, retirees and their dependents and authorized civilians
Conducts annual employee performance reviews
Participates in selecting subordinate positions
Interfaces with the RPM on a routine basis ensuring that menu planning, programming, and accountability of funds and equipment are properly maintained.
Requirements
- Must meet Federal Employment suitability requirements and successful completion of background investigation.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain First Aid and CPR certifications.
- . Must possess and maintain a valid driver?s license
Qualifications
Comprehensive knowledge of recreation policies, requirements, administrative practices and procedures relating to the planning, budgeting, scheduling, and coordinating of recreation programs and the efficient operation and utilization of facilities and equipment
Must be capable of organizing and operating several facilities/programs simultaneously
Must possess skill in negating program issues and operational requirements with patrons and personnel inside and outside the local installation and community organization
Ability to mange a Community Recreation Program that encompasses many different and unrelated processes methods and procedures to ensure efficiency and effectiveness
Ability to perform the full range of supervisory duties
Ability to communicate and clarify the application of the department's policies to employees and management personnel both orally and in writing
Ability to prepare program services and operations for periodic review for quality level and responsiveness to community interest and need, and achievement of program objectives
Knowledge of business principles and personnel management
Knowledge of computer software applications, databases and automated systems
Education
A four-year undergraduate degree in Recreation ORthree years of comparable experience that illustrates a progression in management experience
