The incumbent is the Environmental Health (EH) Coordinator for a variety of environmental agent and Civilian Health and Medical Program of the Department of Veterans Affairs (CHAMPVA) programs under Health Administration Service (HAS). The position is assigned within the Patient Processing and Benefits Section, Enrollment Center, Special Programs Unit of HAS.
Duties
Necessary interactions with Veterans, Medical Center personnel and other contacts.
The incumbent is expected to carry out work independently, resolving problems in accordance with published policy.
The Environmental Health (EH) Coordinator coordinates all administrative information between professional staff, other VA Medical Centers, VBA service officers and the Veteran.
Coordinating the environmental agents program such as Persian Gulf, Agent Orange, Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF)/Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) Ionizing Radiation and Burn Pit/PACT ACT Registry Examinations, etc.
The EH Coordinator provides each Veteran with an oral explanation of the purposes of the registry programs, the examination processes, and responds to any questions the Veteran might have.
The EH Coordinator must have extensive knowledge and above average ability to interpret a complex body of environmental registry examination program guidelines, directives, Public laws, VA regulations and Hospital Policy is necessary to accomplish the duties required of the EH Coordinator.
Extensive knowledge of internal organization, VISTA, Veteran Health Identification Card (VHIC), VHA Enrollment System (VES) - VA consolidated Health Records, CPRS, registration programs and scheduling.
Must have an excellent working knowledge of HAS and able to complete actions pertaining to eligibility/ enrollment for Veterans, registrations/enrollment, and scheduling menus.
Must be familiar with and have the ability to access various web-sites to retrieve information on the various environmental programs, i.e., va.gov/environ agents; va.gov/irad/; va.gov/vhi/; etc.
Work Schedule: Monday to Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 08/29/2023.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade within the previous 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-7 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-6. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.
You may qualify based on your experience as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-06 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Provides explanation of the registry programs, the examination processes, and responds to any questions to Veterans; coordinates programs and all administrative information between professional staff, other VA Medical Centers, VBA service officers and the Veteran; interprets environmental registry examination program guidelines, directives, public laws, VA regulations and Hospital Policy; determines eligibility for Veterans, registrations/enrollment, and scheduling menus; utilizes VISTA, VA consolidated Health Records, CPRS, registration programs and scheduling.

Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary with only physical demands being walking standing, bending, and sitting in performance of duties.
