You will serve as a TRAINING INSTRUCTOR (RIGGING) in the Training Branch of the Inspection, Test and QA Division in the Lifting and Handling Department at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard in Portsmouth, VA.

Duties

You will conduct assessments and task analyses to determine learning objectives. You will prepare lesson plans and training materials based on course objectives. You will recommend adjustments or modifications to training in accordance with the evaluation.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience independently planning and carrying out work, determining appropriate approach, content of instruction, and methodology that will be used to achieve the stated objectives. Experience developing/maintaining training records and reports in accordance with appropriate guidelines. Experience administering funding procedures when costs related to trainings are involved. Experience conducting the training and progress of students in meeting desired objectives, including advising and assisting them with performance improvement. Experience providing practical application of subject matter theory integrated with safety, radiological; and other requirements. Experience conducting assessments and task analyses to determine learning objectives. Experience providing Instruction involving detailed explanations, demonstrations, and testing exercises to develop subject matter knowledge and skill as well as practical application of theory. Education

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

Master's or equivalent graduate degree

OR

2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree

OR

LL.B. or J.D., if related
