About the Position: This position is located at Fort Sam Houston, Texas.
Duties
Actively participate in the management of the organization by performing both routine and non-routine administrative and clerical work in addition to nonstandard assignments.
Apply a knowledge of the various program elements assigned to staff members and of the mission and functions of the organizational components, their goals and objectives, and sources of information.
Receive and control incoming correspondence, publications, and regulations.
Ascertain the nature of the call, personally respond to routine and non-technical requests for information, following organizational activities, procedures, and requirements; and/or refer inquiry to proper staff member for appropriate action.
Arrange appointments, meetings or conferences including selecting mutually satisfactory times and dates, reserving meeting facilities, coordinating technical and audio-visual support, and notifying participants of time and location.
Assemble variety of information and topics to correctly assimilate data into a presentable format.
Assist The Medical Educational and Training Campus (METC) Senior Leadership with the submission of annual reports prior to established deadlines
Manage military awards and decorations for division, reviews and edits packets for completeness and adherence to policies and procedures.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
- This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.

Basic Requirements for Administrative Support Assistant (OA) GS-0303-07:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: performing administrative tasks and clerical work; coordinating meeting arrangements and calendars; and preparing written correspondence and publications. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
