About the Position: This position is for a permanent Security Guard (GS-0085-06) with the Department of the Army, Installation Management Command (IMCOM), Directorate of Emergency Services (DES) located at Fort Carson, Colorado. Recruitment, Relocation and Retention Incentives may be offered for this position. Note: Competition for Security Guard positions is restricted by law to persons entitled to veteran's preference as long as such applicants are available for appointment.

Duties

Perform Physical Access Control Systems (PACS) registrar duties to enroll personnel into the system for vetting and printing of visitor passes/badges. Respond to incidents to prevent theft, damage, accidents, trespassing, sabotage, and espionage in accordance with the appropriate regulations. Prepare written reports to document all incidents as they occur on the installation. Operate two-way communication equipment to summon emergency vehicles and crews when assistance is needed.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position is covered by the 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968.
  • This position is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) subject to applicant testing and random drug testing.
  • Tentatively selected applicants will be required to sign DA Form 5019 requiring participation in random drug urinalysis testing.
  • Incumbent must successfully pass a pre-employment and recurring medical examination (physical, emotional and mental stability) and test annually thereafter.
  • Incumbent must pass the initial physical ability test (PAT) within the first 30 days of employment and pass the annual test thereafter.
  • Incumbent must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
  • Due to the nature of this position, employees are subject to work both planned and unscheduled irregular tours of duty to support 24/7 operations, which includes evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • This is an Inclement Weather Essential position; you must make every attempt to report for work on time and/or remain on duty during severe weather conditions.
  • This position has a requirement to lift up to 45 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
  • This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
  • Incumbent is required to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.
