Duties
Serves as a Guard Supervisor for the Security Guard force under the authority of the Senior Commander at the installation.
Performs managerial and administrative duties relating to the security guard force such as assign work to subordinates, approve/deny leave, conduct job interviews, prepare performance evaluations among other.
Plans the activities of 3 shifts of security guards, through subordinate supervisors, to ensure the maintenance of stringent physical security standards; enforcement of federal, state, and local laws, official orders and regulations.
Responsible for the safeguarding government personnel, property, and technologies against such threats as: unlawful entry, sabotage, espionage, theft, accidental or willful damage, and destruction.
Identify, develop and provide training to subordinate supervisors to enhance security readiness.

Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position is subject to an initial drug screening, and random testing thereafter. A negative drug test result must be received by human resources within 30 calendar days after the Entrance on Duty (i.e., start date).
- Selectee’s inability to successfully pass or refusal to conduct the drug test may result in the job offer being withdrawn during the recruitment process or subsequently being removed from Federal service for failure to meet a condition of employment.
- You may be required to sign a Statement of Understanding if you are selected for this position.
- Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain eligibility at the Secret level using a Tier 3 background investigation.
- Incumbent must be able to obtain and sustain state certification for operating the NCIC terminals
- IAW AR 600-85, a DA Form 5019R Condition of Employment must be assigned for mandatory drug testing. Drug testing designated position. Individual agrees to submit to a urinalysis on a recurring basis, in accordance with (IAW) AR 600-85.
- Shift work is required, or a change in work shift may be necessary. Hours of work encompass fluctuating tours of duty to include evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.
- Overtime may be required as directed and is subject to recall for periods of emergency overtime.
- Incumbent must undergo and pass annual medical exams of physical, emotional and mental stability. Standard for medical exams are prescribed in AR 190-56 "The Army Civilian Police and Security Guard Program".
- Incumbent must successfully complete security guard training.
- Employee must be trained and maintain current required certifications in CPR techniques and must know first aid. May act as a first responder in a medical emergency.
- Must wear the Department of the Army Security Guard (DASG) uniform IAW AR 190-56, maintain a high state of appearance and hygiene.
- Must not have any medical condition that precludes the wearing of a chemical protective mask and over garments.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes planning the activities of a security guard force shift, performing access control or visitor control center operations, administering training to ensure personnel are equipped to protect against threats to property and personnel, and performing supervisory duties to include interviewing candidates for employment, evaluating employee performance, and providing recommendations for leave approval and disciplinary actions. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08).
