You will serve as a SECURITY ASSISTANT/ALARM MONITOR in the Provost Marshal Office/Marine Corps Police Department of MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP PENDLETON.
Duties
You will monitor/operate electronic security systems involving alarm panels/monitors, call-boxes, maintenance related items, IDS, video motion detection systems, ground based radars and various security alarms.
You will set/re-set alarms and ensure alarms are not malfunctioning; supply information to proper points of contact if alarm is malfunctioning; supply information to point(s) of contact of the alarm activation in order to initiate response.
You will monitor and operate the Mass Notification System (MNS) to ensure proper dissemination of emergency mass notification messages; support and conduct monthly testing of MNS to ensure proper operation of system.
You will ensure all communication and alarm system are in proper working order and initiate immediate corrective action if not in proper working order.
You will prepare and maintain a documented alarm control log of all alarm conditions to include setting, activation and other pertinent alarm information.
You will ensure recall rosters on key personnel from units are accurate; maintain complete and accurate listing of all Fire/Smoke alarm boxes; report roster discrepancies.
You will ensure proper records storage safeguards are in place and records are appropriately archive/destroyed.

- Must satisfactorily pass the Police Applicant Suitability Review (PASR) investigation.

- Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license and be able to maintain a U.S. Government emergency vehicle operator's license.
- Must complete MCESS training as provided by the physical security section.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- You must meet the qualifications and be certified to carry a firearm. You will need to maintain firearm proficiency.
- This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. You will be required to sign a DD-Form-2760, Qualification to possess firearms or ammunition.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing
- You must have reached your 18th birthday prior to appointment.
- This is a bargaining unit position.
- This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
- This position requires rotating shift work.
Qualifications
GS-6: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-05) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing the following security clerical and administrative duties: 1) Monitoring and troubleshooting Electronic Security System, Intrusion Detection System, alarm, mass notification and CCTV systems installed; 2) Preparing and maintaining security files and records; 3) Drafting routine correspondence relating to security; and 4) Providing customer service in support of security programs (e.g., pass and identification, police records, physical security, entry point control, acquisition).
GS-5: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-04) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing to following clerical and administrative duties: 1) Preparing and maintaining security files and records; 2) Drafting routine correspondence relating to security; and 3) Providing customer service in support of security programs (e.g. pass and identification, police records, physical security, entry point control, acquisition).

Education
In lieu of general/specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:
GS-5:
- Successfully completed four years of education above high school;
OR
- Have a combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience.
