You will serve as a SECURITY ASSISTANT (O/A) in the ASSISTANT CHIEF OF STAFF, G-1 of MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP PENDLETON.

Duties

You will screen civilian personnel upon joining the command for appropriate suitability background investigation for federal employment. You will Conduct local record checks on personnel requesting access to classified information to determine the existence or absence of unfavorable information. You will Initiate via the E-QIP system, reviews, fingerprints, submits, and monitors requests for Civil Service and Contractor personnel security/background investigations. You will establish and maintains personal security records on command personnel. You will ensure all personnel have signed a Classified Information Nondisclosure Agreement (SF 312) prior to granting initial access to classified information. You will Maintain the command's Security Management Office (SMO) in the Joint Personnel Adjudication System (JPAS). You will debrief personnel transferring· to another command, terminating civilian employment, or other occasions when the individual no longer requires access to classified information.

  • Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final Secret security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • You must be willing and able to lift/carry 15 pounds.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to possess and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • This position requires the ability to type at least 40 words per minute. Your response to the typing skill question on the Occupational Questionnaire will be used in your qualification determination.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Applicant must have hand-on experience utilizing JPAS/DISS for entering personnel background investigations and managing the Continuous Evaluation Program; Applicant must have first-hand experience utilizing the e-QIP or eAPP systems with initiating, reviewing, and submitting Tier1, Tier3, and Tier 5 background investigations; Must have experience with overseeing the accounting, control, classification, storage, transmission, destruction, printing, reproduction or copying of classified information; Must have first hand experience with the accountability, inventory, transportation, and destruction of CMCC assets.
