About the Position: This position is located in the Plans Division of the Deputy Chief of Staff for Strategy, Plans, Policy and Programs (G-5), SDDC, Scott AFB, IL. The incumbent serves as senior planner responsible for development of mobility analyses and reports for general war plans, programs, and studies to assist DOD elements. Directs deployment planning activities including feasibility analyses of operation plans.
Duties
Oversee the SDDC analysis of operation plans in support of the commanders in chief and directs deployment planning activities and development of transportation/strategic mobility policies.
Coordinate with USTRANSCOM, Joint Chiefs of Staff, military services, the unified commands, and other transportation component commands in preparation of strategic mobility studies and operation plan analyses.
Interface with SDDC subordinate commands, giving guidance and direction for their planning activities, providing the status of operation plan development, and ensuring that necessary data and information is made available to them.
Serve as command focal point for the review and update of all Joint Strategic Planning System (JSPS) documents.
Assure that all JSPS documents reflect SDDC mission and responsibilities.
Participate with USTRANSCOM, the Joint Staff, the Services, and other defense agencies in strategic mobility studies such as the Mobility Requirements Study and associated follow-on studies.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Top-Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
- A pre-employment and recurring comprehensive background investigation that includes, but is not limited to:
- contact with all references, employers, co-workers, personal associates, and a review of your driving record, credit history, criminal history, and military service are required.
- The duties of this position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs. Detection of the presence of drugs is warranted.
- This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
- In accordance with AR 690-11, this position has been designated as "Key" and shall not be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization as doing so would seriously impair the capability of the organization to function effectively.
- The incumbent must be exempted from recall to active duty and will receive training to ensure mission accomplishment of sustaining base operations during mobilization.

Specialized Experience:
One year of specialized experience in the Federal service which includes:
Utilizing automated systems used to support strategic mobility planning.
Supporting cargo movement for unit deployment and readiness exercises.
Developing policy and/or guidance regarding mobilization, deployment, redeployment and/or demobilization of forces.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
