About the Position: The position is located in the U.S. Army Installation Management Command, Public Affairs Office on Redstone Arsenal.

Duties

Develops and carries out strategic communication, media relations, command information, and community relations programs. Incumbent creates, develops, and implements and evaluates public-facing website and social media platforms for the Garrison Public Affairs Office (PAO). Designs approaches to communication problems in various program areas. Plans, creates, and coordinates the dissemination of information at the agency level relating to the organization's programs, objectives, and functions through the commercial or news media. Develops and conveys communication approaches, advice and counsel to the command and staff on programs, activities, issues, and incidents. Develops written news releases, feature stories, background statements, fact sheets, radio and television spots and scripts that effectively transmit information about complex programs, activities, and functions. Knowledge of a wide range and commonly applied electronic and social media principles, concepts, and practices. include websites and social media outlets. Skill in developing computer briefings.

Specialized Experience:: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Planning, executing, and developing social media and digital content to include operating video and still camera equipment and editing software such as Adobe Photoshop and Premiere for news purposes. 2) Efficient creation of PowerPoint briefings as a communication tool for addressing senior leaders, garrison directorates, tenant organizations and other internal and external audiences. 3) Planning and facilitating leader participation in community outreach events. 4) Using Concrete Five or other Content Management System to create, publish, maintain website content and evaluate its effectiveness. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Communication CounselPlanning and executionTechnical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
