This is position is in The Department of Transportation (DOT), Office of the Secretary (OST), Office of the Assistant Secretary for Budget and Programs and Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Office of the OST Chief Financial Officer. The mission of the Office of the OST Chief Financial Officer ensures the Department has sound financial management policies, standards and systems consistent with DOT goals and programs to ensure the financial info needs of both internal/external customers are met.

Under the direction of the Deputy OST CFO and/or OST CFO, the Budget Officer will perform such duties and assignments as:

Qualifications
To meet the minimum qualifications for this position, you must meet the specialized experience qualifications.To qualify for the Grade 15, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equal or equivalent to the GS-14, it must include:
Experience in providing leadership in developing and updating budget policies, managing the budget formulation and execution of budgets, resolving technical budget issues, and meeting critical deadlines.
Experience working across many programs and offices to ensure budget justifications and data are accurate and properly defended and translating budget data.
Experience in the Federal budget process, particularly budget formulation and preparation, the preparation of SF-132 apportionments, and providing responses to questions and technical assistance related to the budget and agency funding
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
Organizational Performance Analysis - Knowledge of the methods, techniques, and tools used to analyze program, organizational, and mission performance; includes methods that deliver key performance information (for example, comparative, trend, diagnostic, root cause, predictive) used to inform decisions, actions, communications, and accountability systems.
Leadership - Influences, motivates, and challenges others; adapts leadership styles to a variety of situations.
