This position is part of the Defense Security Cooperation Agency. The incumbent will be responsible for providing expert advice and guidance on systems as they relate to accounting and financial management policies, procedures, and the audit readiness strategy.
Duties
As a SUPV FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST at the GS-0501-15 level, some of your typical work assignments may include:
Serving as the final authority and performing the full-range of supervisory responsibilities to include management of personnel actions, development/appraisal of performance standards, conducting feedback sessions, initiating disciplinary actions, to include admonishments, warnings, and reprimands, as necessary.
Planning, organizing and correlating numerous aspects of long-range goals and objectives supporting Agency audit readiness strategic project plans and advanced budget planning, and the ability to manage major projects on a broad scale, as well as direct functional and technical aspects of projects.
Providing expert advice and guidance on systems as they relate to accounting and financial management policies, procedures, and the audit readiness strategy and related initiatives; to advance the application of new policies, procedures, methods and technologies; and determine the impact of initiatives of legislation, policies, regulations, procedures, processes, system and business partners.
Demonstrating proven initiative, judgment, financial and budget competencies required to oversee the planning, directing and timely management of a diverse team of senior financial management specialists in meeting mission objectives.
Serving as the technical representative/authority on a wide-range of financial and audit topics for DSCA in senior level conferences and consultations with various executive level throughout the DoD, Federal Agencies, Congress, academic community, and private sector

Qualifications
You may qualify at the GS-15 level, if you fulfill the following qualifications:
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service:
Overseeing financial and auditing planning and policies
Demonstrating comprehensive knowledge with audit readiness and remediation efforts
Performing financial audits, short and long-range audit planning, and oversight of audit initiatives associated with Foreign Military Sales or Security Cooperation/Assistance accounts
Managing, implementing, monitoring and evaluating government accounting and finance systems
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education
Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
