You will serve as an Engineering Technician in the Engineering Department of SOUTHWEST REGIONAL MAINTENANCE CENTER.
Duties
You will responsible for conducting independent engineering studies, investigations, research, and analysis for the solution of unusual or unprecedented engineering problems or in support of short and long-term engineering projects on assigned ships.
You will attend all pre-availability planning meetings. Assume a leading role addressing technical issues and coordinating resolution of technical authority issues.
You will prepare and direct the development of engineering reports and correspondence related to specific work projects on assigned ships.
You will develop and coordinate technical training within the Engineering Department.
You will create, design, assess, analyze and interpret engineering guidelines, principles and practices to solve engineering/technical problems.
You will provide engineering technical services in support of ongoing waterfront production work at private contractor facilities.
You will provide oversight of the contractor's technical performance of shipboard work for compliance to contract specifications.
You will assess and apply knowledge of engineering theories, principles, and practices to technically assess, evaluate, and provide recommendations for contractor change proposals, growth and new work.

- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: providing technical engineering advisory services or guidance through investigations, research and analysis to resolve unusual or unprecedented engineering problems in support of shipboard engineering projects.
