Duties
As a TRANSPORTATION SPECIALIST at the GS-2101-13 some of your typical work assignments may include:
Provide transportation expertise related to defense transportation, traffic management, cargo movement, and Logistics policy and issues.
Modify DoD regulatory and doctrine guidance to support improvements in process and procedures.
Research, analyze and act on complex commercial, inter-service, intermodal and international transportation management and transportation operations and logistics issues.
Analyze and resolve complex and /or sensitive transportation and logistics management problems and the implementation of new developments and technology.
Serve as a project leader to accomplish complex, unique, sensitive or long term studies concerning major transportation /logistics problems.
Analyze unique and diverse air, land, and sea transportation requirements.

Qualifications
You may qualify at the GS-13 level, if you fulfill the following qualifications:
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service:
Researching and Analyzing transportation policy, doctrine, public laws, rules and their regulatory documents to establish new DoD policy and procedures.
Developing and presenting briefings to high level management concerning the Defense Transportation System (DTS) and policy and procedure issues.
Analyzing unique and diverse air, land and sea transportation requirements and related linkages.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education
Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
