This position is located within the Pathology and laboratory Medicine Service, VAMC Huntington, West Virginia, and is the primary data analyst and administrative/transcription support for the department.
Duties

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides support within the Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Service and will also be called upon by the Chief of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, Laboratory Manager and Supervisors to assist with projects falling within their knowledge and skill levels.
Provide administrative/transcription and data analysis/management support to the Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Program, to include but not limited to analyzing data extracts, data compilation and collection, preparation of reports, program support and administrative assistance.
Provides a complete range of program support which includes customer service coordination, data analysis and transcription of pathology reports, monitors and compiles data from the local facility to meet the goals and program guidelines for the service.
Assists in the planning, review and reporting of data/statistical results of programs/project studies.
Establishes protocols for incoming data, organizes computerized data sets and retrieves computerized data.
Maintains automated system of program-specific data to track items such as project progress reports, compliance strategies etc.
Prepares reports, including patient reports, to assist with compliance monitoring for completion of the Pathology and laboratory Medicine programs which are reported to the facility as well as network leadership.
Uses software applications to draw information to prepare/assist in preparation of reports.
Serves as the primary Fund Control Point Clerk for the Pathology and laboratory medicine Service, ensuring orders are entered in a timely manner and that control points are maintained in accordance with guidance issued by Fiscal Service.
Performs other duties assigned.
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday; 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m. to include Some Weekends and Tours of Duty Outside of the 8:00 a.m. to 4: 30 p.m. Shift

Qualifications
To qualify for this position all applicants must meet the following:
Specialized Experience: Possess at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-5) in Federal Service, that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the Program Support Assistant position, and that is typically in or related to the work of this position. Specialized experience includes: .performing transcriptions and ensuring appropriate administrative processes are maintained; maintaining database and electronic files; scheduling appointments, coordinating meetings, answering telephones and performing timekeeping duties. NOTE: Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must clearly indicate the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.
