About the position: This position will be assigned to the Resource Management Flight at WPAFB, administering and supporting information technology needs.
Administers and maintains the squadron Local Area Network (LAN) and Management Information System (MIS), monitors ongoing operation, provides technical assistance and troubleshooting.

Duties
Administers the squadron Local Area Network (LAN) and Management Information System (MIS). Monitors ongoing operation of the LAN to ensure hardware and software are functioning properly and that operational standards are met. Uses established computer techniques to adequately and promptly resolve LAN and computer related problems. May be required to use judgment in adapting guidelines to specific problems/issues. Performs planning to ensure that the system meets the needs of the organization. Assists managers and work groups to plan implementation that will enhance the operation and productivity of the various functions. Provides technical assistance to current and potential users so that computer operations have few major disruptions. Provides formal and/or informal training so that users are able to operate the system without undue interruption. May be required to train new CSA/FSAs. Plans and implements security techniques and procedures to ensure the local organization/installation and agency security standards for the services functions are met. Assists in compiling information for risk analysis, accreditation and certification packages in accordance with agency requirements and time frames. Responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting existing systems such as LAN systems, servers, recreation tracking systems, point of sale systems, food tracking systems, payroll on-line/off-line systems, time management systems, credit card systems, and be familiar with Oracle and SQL databases. Must be familiar with backing up critical data using a variety of backup systems, also applying vendor supplied patches to operating systems and applications. Coordinates with vendors to provide hardware maintenance and upgrades. Installs, configures and troubleshoots network and application servers, operating systems and peripherals to include routers, bridges and cabling. Additional duties could include Information Assurance Officer (IAO), Telephone Control Officer (TCO), Functional System Administrator (FSA), Client Support Administrator (CSA), Automated Data Processing Equipment custodian (ADPE) or alternate for these duties. Performs other related duties as assigned. Position of Trust. The employee may be required to work other than normal duty hours in an on-call status, which may include evenings, weekends and/or holidays. Position may be determined mission critical and require employee to be called in during emergencies to support mission critical systems.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Qualifying Experience:
Experience should demonstrate a range of computer techniques, requirements, methods, sources and procedures. Must have experience working and maintaining computer hardware, software and peripherals. Must demonstrate a familiarity with Microsoft operating systems and Office products, UNIX, an understanding of server based computing environment; PC computers and server architecture; cabling topologies; and dial up remote access. Must demonstrate an ability to communicate and instruct users in a technical manner. Per DoD 8570.01-M, the incumbent of this position must achieve the appropriate IA certification within six months of assignment of these duties. Must be highly motivated, and able to work with little or no supervision. Must satisfactorily complete a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI). Must possess a valid motor vehicle operator's license. This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use.
Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does allow for education substitution.
FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
