You will serve as a SAFETY & OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH SPECIALIST in the NAVAL SHIPYARD OPERATIONS DEPARTMENT; INDUSTRIAL OPERATIONS DIRECTORATE of the NAVSEA HQ FIELD SUPPORT.
Duties
You will provide assistance to the Deputy Director, Safety Management Division in Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) program planning, development, and management of policies, directives, and guidance.
You will conduct research into technical OSH issues, reviews trouble reports and critiques, writes brief sheets, informational/position papers, and supports compliance inspections/reviews of NAVSEA activities.
You will develop NAVSEA specific policy for OSH and Fire Protection/Prevention programs.
You will, as a subject matter expert in OSH and Fire Protection/Prevention, serve as a NAVSEA representative to working groups or committees that review and recommend changes to policies or guidelines.
You will administer OSH Program elements including inspections, evaluations, surveys, education, training, instructions, mishap prevention, accident investigation, reporting, and other activities associated with operation of OSH programs.
You will support the completion of OSH inspections at all NAVSEA HQ/PEO spaces annually or more often as needed.
You will serve as the Command representative during OSH and Fire Protection/Prevention audits.
You will conduct investigations in response to incidents or accidents involving employees or equipment as required to determine causes of incidents.
You will maintain liaison with safety and health personnel of Federal, State, County, city, and private organizations.
You will provide briefings and training to Program Managers and Safety Representatives throughout NAVSEA well as field activities and contractors on OSH and Fire Protection/Prevention policies, guidelines, and their implementation.

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the NH-02 pay band (or GS-11 equivalent) in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector overseeing, analyzing, or administering an occupational health or safety program for an industrial organization. (Examples of qualifying experience may include: implementing or evaluating health or fire safety protocols; conducting or facilitating safety inspections or audits; ensuring occupational safety discrepancies are corrected or resolved in accordance with law, regulation, or policy; and investigating industrial or workplace accidents).
