The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a command headquarters level Staff Officer responsible for supporting the Directorate's Operations, Exercises & Training, and Plans & Requirements Division.
Duties
Responsible for facilitating programmatic changes directed through Program Action Directive(s), and Program Plan(s) development, and execution, and installation plans.
Analyze problems created by the incompatibility of future programs and initiates corrective action.
Search a variety of sources to select the information appropriate to the task, taking care to verify the relevancy, adequacy, sustainability, attainability, accuracy, and completeness of the information and recommendations.
Prepare detailed plans and schedules for assigned major programs and/or participates with management in strategic and operational planning.
Significant interaction with Staff Directors, General Officers, and civilian equivalents to include review, preparation and delivery of executive correspondence, staff decision packages and briefings.

- Travel and relocation expenses will not be paid
- Successful completion of Joint Professional Military Education, level one (JPME-1)
- This position is subject to provisions of the DoD Priority Placement Program
- This a drug testing designated position and the incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use
- Exigencies/demands of operations may occasionally necessitate extended or irregular work hours and/or at alternate locations
- May travel by military or commercial air to conferences, meetings, or other functions away from the duty site
- Required to use Secret Internet Protocol Router system to conduct day-to-day duties

Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Group Standards for General Schedule Administrative and Management Positions,
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-11, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes expert knowledge of the policy and processes of coordinating headquarters-level staff work and of the functions of entities involved in overall program planning and execution of operations and evaluations. Expert on a wide range of exercise, operational, and training issues supporting major operations as it relates to security, defense, support to civil authorities, consequence management, ceremonial support, mobilization, deployment, employment, exercise, budgeting systems or similar operations.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
Knowledge of a wide range of qualitative and/or quantitative methods for the assessment and improvement of command level plans and operational programs.
Knowledge of agency instructions and processes.
Knowledge of the relationship of the various offices, agencies, and command entities involved in overall program planning and execution of operations and evaluations.
Knowledge of cooperating agencies Exercise/Training/Readiness programs.
Knowledge of cooperating agencies operations and procedures.
Skill in designing and conducting comprehensive studies; and preparing solutions to especially broad, important, and severe operational and contingency areas.
Ability to plan, organize, and negotiate effectively with senior officers/planners to accept and implement recommendations, where proposals involve substantial resources, and require extensive changes in established concepts and procedures.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; negotiate complex issues; and maintain good working relationships.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
