Duties
As an Administrative Officer, you will:
Serve as an advisor on organizational effectiveness; function as a resources manager to the Executive Assistant, Associate Chief Counsel, or Deputy on administrative and personnel matters.
Analyze workflow, determine problem areas, develop guidelines, and provide advice and assistance to the Executive Assistant and other management officials in the division on all phases of administrative management, providing solutions to problems arising in connection with the operating policies, programs, workloads, staffing, and other managerial concerns.
Participate in personnel staffing activities such as recruitment, interviewing, and placement of support staff.
Assist in representing the ITA Associate Chief Counsel in areas of budget, resource allocation, fiscal authority, organization, and functions.
Determine the office's physical resource needs, including property and supply, telecommunications, space, furniture, equipment, tax research materials, office materials, and periodicals, etc.

Specialized Experience: Your resume must detail at least one year of specialized experience which includes conducting management studies and/or surveys and recommending corrective action; providing guidance and recommendations on matters relating to personnel issues; providing guidance on and applying office policies, procedures, and regulations; managing fiscal resources.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. Time in Grade Requirement for GS-12: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
