About the Position: The person in this position will serve as the Referral Management Assistant to track and close all specialty referrals; contacting patients, providers and other staff to obtain referral reports/results and/or status of request for referral; generating reports from CHCS or database which assist the administration in evaluating the program and any other duties necessary to complete the referral process and continuum of care for the patient in a timely manner.

Duties

Advise Medical Treatment Facility staff on referral tracking procedures. Generate a variety of reports to indicate the current status of referrals. Contact the provider/specialty clinic to obtain results. Contact the patient to assist them in receiving their care. Track completion of all referrals. Utilize office automation equipment, word processing software, and mission specific medical software to compile and type a variety of material including progress reports or memos. Work with Resource Management Division (RMD) to review bills from outside agencies. Receive patient or staff complaints involving the referral tracking system, and works with staff to resolve those problems.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04). OR Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: AccountabilityComputer SkillsInterpersonal Skills Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-04).
