The incumbent will provide full support to the Cardiology Section Chief, Administrative Officer, Director Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory, diagnostic laboratories, and outpatient clinics of the Cardiology Section. The incumbent will operate independently in carrying out the objectives of section management in support of the section's mission of education, research, and patient care.
Duties
Major duties of this position include, but are not limited to:
Collaborates with medical staff, managers, administrator, and internal and external stakeholders to capture data.
Researches, analyzes, and validates data to develop reports for local management.
Responds to all inquiries of the cardiology section, gathers information, and presents information for the daily functions of the section.
Uses data management system to capture and review consults.
Sends consults to appropriate service for completion when required.
Monitors VA and University schedules for discrepancies of on-call coverage and patient care matters.
Troubleshoots and problem solves through analytical and complex analysis to solve problems.
Reviews information and determines whether it is sufficient and in compliance with existing regulations before patient information is given to physicians or other staff members.
Responds to daily customer service inquiries and responses (PATS); refers patients and/or staff to appropriate associates for consults and routine or specialty care items.
Provides daily program and administrative support by gathering documents, reports, statistics, information, and data to create concise reports for use by supervisors.
Processes complex requests for items related to the support of direct patient care.
Drafts reports to provide environmental analysis on matters and current states within any of the inpatient, outpatient, new, and return clinics.
Serves on various committees of the medical center at the request of the supervisor for weekly or monthly meetings.
Reviews existing directives and instructional material pertaining to administrative practices and clerical procedures to be aware of new, revised or amended procedures for such matters as preparation and processing of correspondence, report forms, filing, mail procedures, preparation of travel vouchers, training, timekeeping and security procedures.
Distributes monthly call schedules, weekend call schedules, conference schedules, and pager numbers as needed and assists staff in determining the responsible attending/ fellow/resident during inquiries.
Delineates specific requirements for each individual clinic within the section pursuant to needed orders, call schedules, and clinical functions of the service.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 08/17/2023.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-06. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.
You may qualify based on your experience as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-06 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:
Training personnel in areas related to staffing, budgeting, planning, academics, research, timekeeping, and data analysis/collection;
Applying practical knowledge with difficult, on-the-job training or experience dealing with the operations, regulations, principles, and peculiarities of the assigned program, function, or activity;
Understanding of the clinic functions and detailed knowledge of all section clinic grids, schedules, and functions.

Physical Requirements: Most work is in an office setting. There is some standing, bending, stooping, walking, and carrying of light items to different areas of the medical center and health science campus. Incumbent carries lightweight items not normally weighing more than twenty-five pounds.
