Duties

If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for the United States Attorney's Office of Western District of Missouri. You will be responsible for providing technical and advisory assistance to support the information management needs of the District. At the full performance level, typical work assignments will include: Diagnosing and resolving problems in response to customer reported incidents; Installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and maintaining customer hardware and software; Providing for customer training including orientation for new users; Maintaining network architecture and infrastructure, to include configuring and maintaining servers, hubs, routers, and switches; Designing, developing, testing, and implementing internet, intranet, and extranet activities, to include technical management of websites; Implementing programs to ensure users are aware of, understand, and adhere to systems security policies and procedures; and Performing a variety of litigation support services (including trial preparation and presentation) in response to customer needs. Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.

Requirements

Qualifications

** Salary Ranges are based on the Special Rate Pay Tables **Basic Requirement: Information Technology (IT)-related experience, obtained through paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training, demonstrating each of the following competences: Attention to Detail: Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. Customer Service: Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work until provides, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. Oral Communication: Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and respond appropriately. Problem Solving: Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. AND GS-7: To be eligible at the GS-7 level, you must meet at least ONE of the following conditions as defined below. Specialized Experience: One full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-5 level in Federal or public service. Examples include: performing entry-level work assignments associated with the day-to-day operation and administration of IT systems; installing, configuring, and upgrading commonly used hardware and software; providing user training on routine hardware, software, and internet applications; maintaining and controlling equipment inventories; and maintaining IT systems documentation; OR Education: One full year of graduate level education in a related field (Information Science, Engineering, Computer Science). Education at the graduate level must be in an accredited college or university and must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the duties of the position; OR Superior Academic Achievement (SAA). To qualify based on SAA, you must have completed the requirements for a bachelor's degree (or expect to complete within 9 months) from an accredited institution AND meet the criteria/requirements for SAA which can be found at: https://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/classification-qualifications/general-schedule-qualification-policies/#url=General-Policies; OR Combining Education & Experience: A combination of specialized experience and graduate education as described above which when combined equal 100% of the requirements. GS-9: To be eligible at the GS-9 level, you must meet at least ONE of the following conditions as defined below. Specialized Experience: One full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-7 level in Federal or Public service. Examples include: providing IT customer service and support in troubleshooting, recovering, and resolving recurring software/hardware problems; providing technical support services to coordinate teleconferences and distance learning activities; distributing and installing new or upgraded software to ensure customers receive current versions; monitoring compliance and maintaining assigned information systems security procedures; and carrying out server maintenance functions using basic internet server maintenance techniques; OR Education: One of the following types of education in a related field (Information Science, Engineering, Computer Science): a Master's or equivalent graduate degree; OR 2 full years of progressively higher graduate education leading to such a degree. This education must have been in one of the following fields OR must have provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the following fields and must have required the development or adaptation of applications, systems, or networks: Computer Science, Engineering, Information Science, Information Systems Management, Mathematics, Operations Research, Statistics, or Technology Management; OR Combining Education & Experience: Combinations of successfully completed graduate education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements. In order to qualify based on a combination, graduate education must be in excess of 1 full year. Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP)- The ICTAP provides eligible displaced Federal competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies.
