You will serve as a Paralegal Specialist in the Office of the Judge Advocate General (OJAG) of NLSC.
Duties
You will research case law, administrative law, federal and state statutes, and other regulations directives, notices, and manuals.
You will review claims to ensure they are legally sufficient under applicable statute and regulations.
You will negotiate with attorneys, insurance adjusters, and claimants.
You will act as a research and review assistant for claims attorneys.

Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-07) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector applying advanced knowledge of legal principles and concepts to interpret a body of law, regulations, and precedents. Specialized experience must demonstrate performing the following duties: 1) Conducts substantive legal research and selects relevant material for claims attorneys; 2) Negotiates with attorneys, insurance adjusters, and claimants; 3) Provides solutions to claims attorneys for issues received; and 4) Reviews each claim when received and determines whether further investigation is necessary.

Education
In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:
master's or equivalent graduate degree
or
2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree
or
LL.B. or J.D., if related
