This position also requires independence of action, general latitude for decision making and knowledge of information sources concerning complex question, policies, and procedures within the Nursing Services program.
Duties
This position is in the Nursing Perioperative Service of the James A Haley Veterans Hospital and Clinics, reporting to the Chief Nurse of the department. The paramount function of this position is to provide administrative support to the Chief nurse and other Nursing Perioperative staff in their mission to serve our Veterans.
Duties include but are not limited to:
Responsible for formulating and administering policies and developing or coordinating directive material implementing these policies.
Knowledge required of orienting/training new professional staff members to the Service and to VA procedures and policies.
Working in conjunction with the Chief Nurse, to study patient satisfaction actively and in real-time by implementing systemic changes.
Time management skills and a high level of judgment are necessary.
This position requires excellent relational and communication skills, advanced knowledge of and experience with computer, oral and written communication skills and the ability to work with others.
Utilizes advances knowledge of VHA databases, such as VSSC, EDIS, BMS, Vista, and DSS in order to complete analyses of the JAHVH, particularly as it relates to efficiency and productivity.
Requires advanced knowledge of health care delivery system. Specific areas include, but are not limited to, financial management, management of physical and human resources, project management, process improvement methods, statistical analysis, data generation and evaluation.
Ability to compile information, analyze, and share in an effective format, often using excel.
Work Schedule: Monday- Friday 7:30am-4:00pm

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 08/16/2023.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-06. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.
You may qualify based on your experience as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-06 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:
Relational and communication skills, advanced knowledge of and experience with computer, oral and written communication skills and the ability to work with others.
The ASA must have a knowledge in, and be able to assume the responsibility for formulating and administering policies and developing and coordinating directive material implementing these policies.
Time management skills and a high level of judgment are necessary.
Knowledge in financial management, management of physical and human resources, project management, process improvement methods, statistical analysis, data generation and evaluation.
Familiar with data which are relevant to the management and measurement of healthcare organization.
