The primary purpose of this position is to accomplish mission support duties by performing a full range of standard clerical and electronic processes, customer service, and building facility manager assignments related to education and training operations for the organization.

Duties

This position is a developmental (e.g.: GS-05 Target GS-06) position. This position may be filled at any grade level. Individual selected may be promoted without further competition, upon meeting all legal and regulatory requirements. Starting salary indicated on this vacancy announcement is for the (GS-05). Attainment of knowledge, skills, and abilities is required before promotion to the next higher grade and is dependent on demonstrated ability to perform the duties of the next higher grade level, meeting all regulatory requirements, and recommendation for promotion by the supervisor. Promotion is neither implied nor guaranteed. This position may be subject to a formalized training program and pay retention of 150% of the maximum rate of the basic pay is authorized for candidates requesting a Voluntary Change to lower Grade. Military Spouse candidates exercising their preference will be placed at the full performance level, if considered to be best qualified and selected. Duties: Performs customer service, clerical, and administrative support Prepares, coordinates, and maintains classrooms and equipment Uses the AFMC Education and Training Management System (ETMS) Performs miscellaneous office automation and information management duties Serves as the building facility manager and equipment custodian

Qualifications

Experience requirements are described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Positions. Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement. GS-05: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-04, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes the knowledge of an extensive body of rules, concepts, techniques, procedures, and operations of training programs to perform a wide variety of assignments involved in training functions. Knowledge of the standardized processes and procedures for evaluating a training program to plan the steps to take to complete assignments, identify problems from collected data, and select solutions from alternatives in guidelines. OR EDUCATION: Have successfully completed four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school. OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: Combination of education and experience as described in the job opportunity announcement and education. NOTE: only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your official transcripts. GS-06: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-05, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes the knowledge of an extensive body of rules, concepts, techniques, procedures, and operations of training programs to perform a wide variety of assignments involved in training functions. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-?grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-04 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-05 level and one year at the GS-05 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-06 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Due to the use of 120 day rosters, applicants within 120 days of completion of the TIG requirement are encouraged to apply. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: GS-05: 1. Knowledge of basic principles of the classified titled or related field. 2. Skill in communicating factual and procedural information clearly, orally and in writing. 3. Ability to learn basic techniques of the classified title. 4. Ability to analyze problems to identify significant factors, gather pertinent data, and recognize solutions. 5. Ability to plan and organize work, and consult effectively with co-workers. GS-06: 1. Knowledge of word processing automation software functions to support office operations and produce a variety of textual documents, such as letters, reports, memos, and form letters. 2. Knowledge of correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, capitalization, and format to accurately prepare and edit written correspondence and reports. 3. Knowledge of rules, procedures, or operations applied to clerical assignment to perform the routine, procedural work of the office, such as preparing and editing documents, maintaining files/records, screening telephone calls and visitors, and processing mail. 4. Knowledge of basic facility security and maintenance processes. 5. Skill in typing; a qualified typist is required. 6. Ability to use and maintain computer systems, equipment, and software. 7. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, using tact and courtesy. 8. Ability to plan, organize work, and meet deadlines. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
