This position is located in the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Human Resources Division (HRD), Office of Talent Acquisition (HRT) Human Resources Processing Unit (HRPS) This position(s) primary purpose serves as a Human Resources (HR) Assistant that provides clerical and technical support and processes a full range of personnel actions. Assists Human Resources Specialists in the division by providing technical human resources support.

As a Human Resources Assistant (OA)your typical work assignments may include: Assists Human Resources (HR) Specialist with the onboarding of new employees. Reviews, codes and processes a full range of personnel actions. Uses HR systems to enter, update, maintain, retrieve and track a variety of personnel transactions, information and reports. Provides information to customers on human resources topics such as benefits, pay, leave, personnel records.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet the Basic Requirement AND Specialized Experience requirements as noted below. Qualification claims will be subject to verification. Basic Requirement: Must be able to type 40 words per minute to qualify. To qualify for the GS-07 position, You must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying specialized experience equivalent, utilizing a human resources information system to code and process personnel actions; responding to customer inquiries concerning human resources related issues; utilizing office automation software applications to compose a variety of documents and forms; and maintaining hard copy and electronic files To qualify for the GS-08 position, You must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying specialized experience equivalent, Applying principles and practices of personnel processing rules, regulations, and procedures to code and work entries in an automated system; Monitors entry of personnel and payroll data into the Integrated Personnel/Payroll System; Verifies nature of actions, regulatory authority, and data element information in order to code and process personnel actions. Specialized experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. One year of specialized experience for this position includes: Competencies: Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competencies in the following areas: Customer ServiceHR Information SystemsProblem SolvingTechnical Competence Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees must meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement (as defined in 5 CFR 300, Subpart F).
