You will serve as a SECURITY SPECIALIST of HEADQUARTERS US INDO-PACIFIC COMMAND.

Duties

You will develop, recommend, evaluate, plan, and implement operational requirements/standards to support antiterrorism, force protection, homeland defense, and rear area security operations policies, programs, and procedures for USINDOPACOM. You will serve as Joint Operations Center Watch Officer who is responsible for AT/FP operations in the 24-hour USINDOPACOM Joint Operations Center (JOC). You will synchronize and coordinate USINDOPACOM AT/FP management support activities; ensure activities are executed on time, addressing all issues and challenges prior to execution. You will review individual, deployed unit, and exercise FP Plans for accuracy and compliance within established guidelines. You will ensure the proper handling of, and shall not disclose or discuss any classified documents or "For Official Use Only" information unless specifically authorized to do so, or as required, on a "need-to-know" basis.

  • Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a U.S. Passport.

Qualifications

GS-13 Level Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience performing work that involves developing, evaluating, and maintaining policies, devices, procedures, and methods used for Anti-Terrorism/Force Protection operations equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-12) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate performing duties such as the following: 1) Developing, recommending, evaluating, planning, and implementing operational requirements/ standards to support antiterrorism, force protection, homeland defense, and rear area security operations policies, programs, and procedures; 2) Synchronizing and coordinating antiterrorism/force protection management support activities; 3) Recommending and specifying policies and methods for enhancing efficiency of security programs through modifications and applications of new techniques and evolving technology; 4) Planning and making recommendations to develop long range studies and requirements for security programs; 5) Evaluating and making recommendations concerning overall plans and proposals for major agency and interagency security projects; 6) Implementing national level guidance in agency standards, guidelines, or policies for major security programs. GS-12 Level Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience performing work that involves developing, evaluating, and maintaining policies, devices, procedures, and methods used for Anti-Terrorism/Force Protection operations equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-11) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate performing duties such as the following: 1) Recommending policies and methods for enhancing the efficiency of Anti-Terrorism/Force Protection programs through modifications and applications of new techniques; 2) Planning and coordinating appropriate Anti-Terrorism training requirements for the command; 3) Evaluating plans and proposals for major agency and interagency security projects; 4) Assessing the force protection conditions for the command to ensure compliance with official policies, tasking, and guidance.
